EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP
Marc Rapaport, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Rapaport is a private investor with operational experience in finance and entertainment.
From 1995 until 1998, Mr. Rapaport was chairman of the Los Angeles Galaxy and lead
investor of L. A. Soccer Partners, LP, the operating group of the Galaxy. Mr. Rapaport
was one of the founders of Major League Soccer, LLC. After practicing law in Los
Angeles, Mr. Rapaport has been executive vice-president of Drexel Burnham Lambert,
was co-founder and executive vice-president of the Capital Division of Jefferies
and Company, where he also served as a director of the Board of Directors. He has
served on many positions at Cedars Sinai Hospital, including Member of the Board
of Directors and Executive Committee; Chairman, Executive Personnel Committee; and
Vice-Chairman of the Finance Committee, Investment Committee and Pension Committee.
Mr. Rapaport received his juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School,
and a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University
of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Rapaport is committed to social entrepreneurship and believes that Doctor Evidence
is a company that can make a meaningful contribution to true healthcare reform through
the application of knowledge, derived from evidence data, to the comparative effectiveness
of medical interventions.
Robert Battista, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Battista has been an entrepreneur since his early 20’s. Mr. Battista has held
various leadership positions inside educational and healthcare companies, including
President and Chief Operating Officer of the largest specialty health and educational
film distribution company (United Learning, Chicago) serving public/private schools,
public libraries, universities, medical schools, hospitals and clinics. Most recently,
Mr. Battista was a partner of a $100 million biotech pharmacy (TheraCom, Bethesda)
specializing in drug distribution and reimbursement services for biopharmaceutical
special-needs patient populations.
Mr. Battista has been active in the mergers and acquisitions market as well, and
has consummated several dozen transactions in the health and education marketplaces.
Mr. Battista currently is an owner and Executive Vice Chairman of Sunburst Technology
Corp., the largest software production and distribution company in the K-12 educational
marketplace, (www.educationalresources.com and
www.sunburst.com) Mr. Battista led
the acquisition of Sunburst Technologies from Vivendi Houghton Mifflin, with the
support and partnership of Thayer Capital, a Washington, D.C.-based $1.5 billion
dollar private equity firm (www.thayercapital.com)
Mr. Battista earned his Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s
Kellogg Graduate School of Management and has a strong orientation toward building
lasting companies in the helping-hands industries of healthcare and education. Mr.
Battista has focused his contributions in the areas of transformational change in
the healthcare industry. He believes systemic improvements in the delivery of quality
healthcare are possible through the application of a focus on improved clinical
outcomes using Evidence-Based Medicine and detailed data analysis. Given the proper
resources, Mr. Battista believes that physicians and their patients can and will
make informed decisions about their healthcare.
Todd Feinman, M.D., President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Feinman founded Doctor Evidence in 2000 to help improve quality of healthcare
in the United States by connecting patients and doctors to valid and relevant evidence
that enables them to make informed decisions.
A graduate of the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California
(UCLA Medical School), Los Angeles, Dr. Feinman completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center in Los Angeles, and his residency in Internal Medicine at Huntington
Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California.
Dr. Feinman is board-certified in Internal Medicine and specializes in Hospitalist
Medicine, a specialty whose primary focus is the high-quality care for hospitalized
patients. He helped develop the first hospitalist programs at FHP Hospital, Queen
of the Valley Hospital and Cedars-Sinai Medical Group. As a Hospitalist and a former
Medical Director for a large, Independent Physician Association, Dr. Feinman realized
that there were no user-friendly technologies that would enable him to use the data
found in clinical studies to determine the most effective test or treatment for
specific patient populations. As president of Doctor Evidence, Dr. Feinman has helped
create an evidence database technology that will revolutionize the way healthcare
is practiced in America. In addition to his work at Doctor Evidence, Dr. Feinman
continues as a part time hospitalist at the Harbor UCLA hospital.
Edan Shalev, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Shalev has more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology. Mr. Shalev
has worked for a variety of corporations-from developing CAD/CAM software to E-Commerce
Portals for tier 1 pharmaceutical companies which included e-commerce systems for
physician, pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers and patient communities. This
work also involved web enabling legacy database systems for use in e-commerce. Mr.
Shalev has consulted on hundreds of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems,
internal I.T. systems, and websites providing database solutions using all popular
backend technologies.
Dovid Gurevich, EVP of Strategy and Operations
Mr. Gurevich has served in various operations, strategic planning, and finance roles
in telecommunications and education management industries for over 11 years. His
most recent staff position was as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Operations
at Knowledge Universe (www.kueducation.com)
Mr. Gurevich’s staff and consulting experience includes projects in operations,
transformational initiatives, mergers & acquisitions, strategic planning, financial
planning & analysis, and program management.
Mr. Gurevich received his Bachelors of Science with honors in Electronics Engineering
from DeVry University and Masters of Business Administration with distinction from
Keller Graduate School of Management. He has been focused on aggressive growth strategies
for companies with emerging industry-transforming offerings and building teams of
operational excellence.
Mary Carpenter, M.L.I.S., VP Knowledge Management
Ms. Carpenter has a worked as a medical librarian for the Reeves Medical Library
at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital's Medical Library
in Los Angeles, where she provided a full range of library and research services
to the medical staff and general public. She taught physicians and hospital staff
how to effectively use print resources and medical databases to answer their evidence-based
information needs. Ms. Carpenter has also worked at Amgen, the world's largest biotech
company, where she served as a principal Information Consultant to the global Neurology
and Metabolic Disorders therapeutic area groups for key Amgen products in development.
Ms. Carpenter has a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University
of Texas at Austin.
At Doctor Evidence, Ms. Carpenter dedicates her expert librarian skills to overseeing
a staff of librarians, and to helping the life sciences and medical community find
valid medical evidence from the complex medical information network.
